Thousands gathered in central London to participate in the “National March for Palestine,” a massive demonstration calling on the British government to stop supplying weapons to Israel and to halt what they describe as a “genocide” in Gaza.

Demonstrators marched for nearly four hours from Russell Square, near the British Museum, to Whitehall, the street adjacent to the British Parliament and home to Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Along the route, placards accused the British Prime Minister of having “blood on his hands” for allowing arms sales to Israel and failing to take «immediate action» to stop the “genocide” facing the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Chants such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” echoed throughout the march, alongside demands to end Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and calls to stop Israeli bombings in Iranian territory, amid rising tensions following a week of missile and drone attacks.

The march experienced tense moments when it crossed paths with a pro-Israel group called Stop The Hate. Protesters shouted at them, saying «You should be ashamed!» To prevent clashes, the Metropolitan Police of London stated on social media platform X that they installed barriers and designated a “suitable” space to separate both demonstrations.

Nevertheless, police confirmed that a bottle was thrown at the pro-Israel group, although no injuries were reported. The suspect was chased and later arrested.
