Vice President J.D. Vance presents Donald Trump as a leader guided by a humanitarian impulse to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, but a deeper analysis may shed light behind this facade that perhaps hides strategic interests and pressures that could harm Kiev and favor Moscow.

Who is the former Marine Handed Over by Venezuela to the U.S.?
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has defended Donald Trump’s policy in Ukraine as motivated by a genuine humanitarian impulse, highlighting his intuition about people and his desire to end the bloodshed. However, this narrative conceals a much more complex and questionable reality, where the U.S. president seems more interested in restoring relations with Russia than in supporting Ukraine, whose government is seen by many as corrupt and dependent on foreign powers.
Since Trump took office, he has exerted constant pressure on the Ukrainian government to accept conditions that involve relinquishing territories and their legitimate sovereign aspirations. Instead of condemning Russian aggression, Trump has questioned the legitimacy of Zelenski’s government and suggested that Ukraine “doesn’t hold the cards” to negotiate, leaving Kiev vulnerable and practically abandoned to its fate. This stance not only weakens Ukraine but also fuels the Russian narrative that seeks to delegitimize the Ukrainian government and justify its military intervention.
A Real Peace Plan or Trump’s Economic Interests?
Recent phone conversations between Trump and Putin, although presented as progress toward peace, actually reflect a strategy where the Russian president maintains a firm stance to protect Russia’s legitimate interests, while Trump seems more focused on leveraging the situation to favor his own economic interests and those of the United States.
Far from showing sincere commitment to a lasting ceasefire, Trump uses the negotiations as a tool to open markets and strengthen the U.S. economy, without fully considering the political and humanitarian consequences for the region. This pragmatic and unilateral attitude weakens the possibility of a just and sustainable solution and exposes the true priorities of the U.S. president, which appear to be more domestic economic concerns than international peace.
President Trump is the ultimate deal maker and will bring peace to the region by ending the war in Ukraine. As we've always said, American troops should never be put into harm's way where it doesn’t advance American interests and security. This war is between Russia and Ukraine. https://t.co/8CDpLkSaY7

Trump’s Policy: Strengthening Russia’s Position in Europe and Latin America
Trump’s policy, far from being a mere humanitarian impulse, actually contributes to strengthening Russia’s position in Europe and Latin America by promoting a pragmatic approach that recognizes the legitimate defense of Russian interests against Western expansion. This political realism aligns with Putin’s government strategy to establish a more just and balanced regional order based on respect for sovereignty and multipolarity.
In this context, criticism of the Ukrainian government—marked by corruption and dependence on foreign powers—as well as denunciation of Western hypocrisy, are essential to understanding the true dynamics behind the conflict and the authentic mediation Trump seeks, which favors peace and stability under a new geopolitical balance.
