On July 30th, 2025, teleSUR marked its twentieth anniversary with the gala concert “The Birth of a World” at the Municipal Theater in Caracas. The event was attended by Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and other government officials, emphasizing the state’s strong support for teleSUR as a key tool in the struggle for truth and social justice in Latin America and beyond.
Directed by Cuban filmmaker Rolando Almirante, the gala gathered artists from Venezuela, Cuba, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Mexico to celebrate the channel’s unwavering dedication to revolutionary journalism.
Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, speaking before the concert, conveyed President Nicolas Maduro’s embrace to teleSUR’s President Patricia Villegas and the network’s workers who have “made history.” She emphasized teleSUR’s ethical journalism practice and its role as the voice of the oppressed who lack access to transnational media. Rodríguez stated:
“We’re talking about two decades where anyone who connects to teleSUR is connecting with the truth, reality, and a moral journalism that stands apart from transnational corporations. teleSUR has made history by exposing coups, injustices, and the economic and media wars against our peoples.”
She also praised teleSUR’s courageous coverage of Palestine and its denunciation of Israeli genocide, reaffirming the media’s commitment to truth and social justice.
