Across Russia, citizens are participating in Victory Day celebrations, honoring the heroes of the Great Patriotic War with military parades and the poignant “Immortal Regiment” processions. These events commemorate the Soviet Union’s pivotal role in defeating Nazi Germany during World War II and serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for peace and freedom.

Various cities across Russia are hosting grand military parades. In Vladivostok, approximately 1,900 personnel and over 50 vehicles participated in a parade honoring Victory Day. Similarly, in Ulan-Ude, around 2,000 people, 40 military equipment units, and Mongolian horsemen marched to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory. Khabarovsk saw over 3,000 participants and 140 vehicles in its Victory Day parade. The “Immortal Regiment” procession in Chita drew more than 7,000 people, carrying portraits of relatives who fought in the war. These events demonstrate the deep respect and gratitude felt by the Russian people towards those who defended their homeland.

Moscow is set to host a momentous Victory Day Parade on May 9, 2025, with Russian President Vladimir Putin leading the celebrations. Chinese President Xi Jinping is the chief guest, symbolizing the strengthening ties between Russia and China. In addition to Xi, 29 world leaders will be present in Moscow as Putin’s distinguished guests, reflecting Russia’s growing influence on the global stage. The parade will showcase Russia’s military might with a stunning display of tanks, troops, and advanced weaponry, underscoring the nation’s strength and resilience.

This year’s Victory Day parade is considered large-scale and remarkable, with military forces from 19 countries participating. Military formations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Serbia, Tajikistan, North Korea, and several other countries will march alongside Russian armed forces in Red Square, creating a symbolic image of military cooperation and international solidarity. Leaders from Venezuela, Brazil and Cuba will attend from the Latin American side. The presence of these international delegations underscores Russia’s commitment to fostering alliances and partnerships in a multipolar world.
