Peskov expressed skepticism about a short-term meeting between the leaders of the U.S. , Russia, and Ukraine.
On Tuesday, Russia’s Investigative Committee (CIR) accused Ukraine of orchestrating the bombing of bridges in the Bryansk and Kursk regions over the weekend, which caused the derailment of two trains and left seven people dead and 113 injured, including children.

“It is clear that the terrorists, acting under orders from the Kyiv regime, planned everything with maximum precision so that hundreds of civilians would be affected by their attacks,” said CIR spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko.
Russian investigators found fragments of explosive devices at the scene of the train derailments and intend to bring the “organizers and perpetrators of these inhumane crimes” to justice.
Earlier, several Russian politicians blamed Ukraine for the derailments, which occurred on the eve of the second round of negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Istanbul.
Also on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made statements regarding the progress of direct negotiations with Ukraine, which took place June 2 in Istanbul. He emphasized that the memorandum presented by Moscow includes several provisions and alternatives aimed at “eliminating the root causes of this conflict and moving toward a sustainable solution.”
The document outlines a definitive end to the war, including Ukraine’s rejection of its radical nationalist stance, protection of Russian-speaking residents, and the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from all Russian regions, including those annexed in 2022.
Peskov noted that possible compromises on the document could not be made public, as they are matters to be discussed within the negotiation framework. The decision to release the text publicly was made by the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, after a closed-door review with the Ukrainian side.
Peskov criticized statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following Monday’s talks, calling them “uncomfortable” and “unfortunate,” and said they did not reflect the spirit of the negotiations. He highlighted the complexity of negotiating a lasting peace and expressed skepticism about a short-term meeting between the leaders of the United States, Russia, and Ukraine.
