In a rare show of unity, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Chad have issued a joint declaration urging an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran, warning that the current trajectory threatens to plunge the Middle East into deeper instability.

The ministers condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iranian territory—including the capital Tehran—as a violation of international law and the UN Charter, stressing the importance of respecting state sovereignty and resolving disputes through peaceful means.

They also emphasized the urgent need to establish a nuclear weapons-free zone in the Middle East and called on all regional actors to recommit to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and resume negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program as a path to long-term stability.

The declaration follows a dramatic escalation that began on Friday, June 13, when Israel launched airstrikes that killed senior Iranian military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran has fired missiles and drones at Israeli targets, pushing the region to the brink of a broader war.

The G7 nations have also weighed in, issuing a statement urging de-escalation and a ceasefire in Gaza and Iran, while reaffirming Israel’s right to self-defense.
