During the morning, Venezuelan students gathered at the Simon Bolivar Monument to welcome Maduro and Diaz-Canel as part of the Victory Day events.

Previously, on Wednesday, the two Latin American leaders met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom they reviewed the status of the bilateral agenda and agreed to consolidate cooperative relations.

On Tuesday night, Maduro arrived in Russia on a plane operated by the state-owned airline CONVIASA, accompanied by the first lady, Cilia Flores.

“We have come to bring the always firm, courageous, and supportive greetings of the Venezuelan people. In the 21st century, our people are also fighting against Nazi-fascism and imperialism,” he told reporters waiting on the airport tarmac.
