The president noted that during election day, “voters of the Libre Party suffered threats from gangs in different parts of the country,” which “must be investigated by the National Police and the Armed Forces.”

Castro emphasized that Honduras’ future demands leaders who safeguard its territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty, and guarantee respect for the popular will, ensuring that the country is never again handed over to organized crime.

“We resisted with stoicism, but with great indignation, the blatant foreign interference of the President of the United States, Donald Trump,” she stated, denouncing that the president’s threats “prevented free suffrage” and limited the people’s ability to “freely express their will.”

The head of state condemned the alteration of the source code of the Electoral Results Transmission System (TREP), calling it a “plot” revealed in 26 audio recordings that show a scheme to alter the results. She asserted that with Trump’s pardon of former President Juan Orlando Hernández, imprisoned in the U.S. on drug trafficking charges, “the narco-dictatorship” is “strengthened.”

He also reported that he has ordered complaints to be filed with the United Nations, the European Union, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) regarding the “electoral coup” and the irregularities detected in the electoral process of November 30.
