President Maduro thanks the Colombian military for support in the face of U.S. aggression

 The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, thanked this Thursday, October 23, the support of the Colombian Armed Forces in the midst of the multiform aggression carried out by the United States, while stressing that the Venezuelan working class is the “greatest shield” in defense of democracy, the constitution and peace of the country.

During the swearing-in of the Promoting Commission for the Workers’ Constituent Assembly held in Caracas, the head of state greeted the Colombian military that defends Venezuela’s sovereignty and those who provided information to neutralize an attempted paramilitary invasion from Colombia in May 2020, which were commanded by the U.S. mercenary Jordan Goudreau at the service of Washington and Venezuelan extreme right-wing groups.

Amid growing U.S. hostility and military operations off the coasts of Venezuela and Colombia, President Maduro said that if there is external aggression, working class unity will have to react to activate peace mechanisms. “If one day they dared here or there, here is the largest coat of arms that the country has.

 The working class would not move a pin and a general, insurrectionary, revolutionary strike would be declared,” said the head of state.

He also urged the Great Movement of Workers of Venezuela to promote a constituent process aimed at overcoming bureaucracy and promoting the creation of new and strengthened labor movements inspired by the legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez, with the aim of consolidating a more democratic and combative organization. “

The working class is with the homeland, with the Bolivarian revolution, and wants peace, with justice, independence and freedom, and a Sovereign Republic,” said the president, calling for four fundamental tasks in the framework of this constitutionalist revolution.

Meanwhile, he called for the debate on the organic law of the Republic and the adaptation of institutions to the people and the election of at least 43,000 spokespeople at the base, in the workplaces, and the holding of assemblies in 14,000 workplaces that lead to the Congress of the Working Class, coinciding with the constituent assembly.

As well as production and productive plans, including the substitution of imports to strengthen the national economy and the productive economy and stimulated new forms of organization by states, sectors and types of employment, with greater attention to labor rights, critical improvement and adaptation to the new times.

In terms of the integral defense of the homeland, the Bolivarian leader announced the creation of a corps of combatants to “win peace,” and referred to the activation of 73 defense points throughout the country and the coverage of 100 percent of Venezuela’s coasts.

He also congratulated the Venezuelan Armed Forces, militiamen, police forces and military commandos for their work in the defense of peace and highlighted the social character of the Bolivarian revolution.
