The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, stated in a speech that “today the victory of the revolutionary popular bloc has been consolidated,” following the release of the first bulletin from the National Electoral Council (CNE) regarding the local elections in the early hours of Monday. The government-aligned Gran Polo Patriotico Simon Bolivar (GPPSB) won more than 285 out of 335 municipalities.

The Venezuelan leader stressed that, out of the 24 capitals of the country, “we won 23 capitals. We only lost San Carlos in Cojedes.” He took the opportunity to congratulate the opposition winner in that municipality.
“Just as the historical victory of the revolutionary, Bolivarian, and Chavista popular bloc has been consolidated, I also believe that today marks the birth of a new Venezuelan opposition that has the obligation to govern well from the 50 mayorships they have won,” he declared.
The text reads: The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, exercised his right to vote in the municipal elections in which 335 mayoralties and the Youth Popular Consultation will be elected.
Meanwhile, Caracas Mayor Carmen Melendez, who accompanied the president, celebrated her re-election in Sunday’s municipal elections and highlighted that “democracy and peace have won.” She also dedicated her victory to the eternal Commander Hugo Chavez from the balcony of the Caracas Mayor’s Office, where she emphasized the loyalty of her team and the people of Caracas to Bolivarian and Chavista ideals.
In the same vein, Maduro said: “On this date, July 28, 2025, we dedicate this great victory of the Venezuelan people to the eternal Commander, Hugo Chavez Frias. (…) He is always alive in our struggle, always alive in our memory, always alive in our daily actions; we are his sons and daughters.”
This statement was made on the anniversary of Commander Chavez’s birth, a deeply symbolic date for the Venezuelan people, which this year coincided with the strengthening of Chavismo on the national political map.
