In his speech, Maduro invoked the legacies of Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez, pledging Venezuela’s continued resistance against what he called “neo-fascism and imperialism.”

The Venezuelan leader framed his visit as a “path to peace” between nations, while honoring Russia’s WWII sacrifices—noting the 27 million Soviet lives lost fighting fascism. He emphasized the Red Army’s decisive role in liberating Europe and eradicating Nazism, recalling pivotal moments like the Battle of Berlin.

Maduro stressed the need to preserve historical memory, particularly for concentration camp victims, and closed with a firm declaration of support for President Vladimir Putin and the “heroic people of the former Soviet Union,” vowing Venezuela would “remain steadfast” in its alliance.

The trip underscores Maduro’s efforts to deepen Venezuela-Russia relations amid global geopolitical tensions, positioning Caracas as a key ally against Western influence. The visit coincides with planned strategic partnership signings, reflecting both nations’ shared ideological stance.
