Pope Francis requested before his death on April 21st that a Popemobile, the vehicle usually used by pontiffs on their tours among the faithful, be allocated to assist the population and children of the Gaza Strip.

The vehicle has already been made available to Caritas Jerusalem and is being prepared for the mission requested by Francis with the help of said organization in Sweden, according to the Religious Information Service (SIR) of the Italian Episcopal Conference this Sunday.
The Popemobile will be managed by doctors and will carry inside it diagnostic instruments, rapid infection tests, suture material, syringes, oxygen, vaccines and a refrigerator to transport medicines.
Since the conflict broke out, Francis always called for peace in the Gaza Strip and, in fact, used to telephone its only Catholic parish during his difficult convalescence from a respiratory infection and until a few days before his death.
The Argentine pontiff died on April 21st at the age of 88, and this Sunday the Vatican concluded the ‘novendiales’, the nine-day period of mourning after the funeral of a pope, already preparing for the conclave that will seek a successor starting on Wednesday.
In Gaza, The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that the Israeli aggression in Gaza has caused the deaths of 52,495 people, mainly children and women, and left 118,366 injured since 7 October 2023. Since 18 March alone, 2,326 civilians have been killed and 6,325 injured.
The ministry also indicated that many victims remain buried under rubble or scattered along roads, while emergency medical and civil defence teams continue to face insurmountable challenges in reaching affected areas.
In the past 24 hours, hospitals in Gaza have received the bodies of 77 people, along with 275 other injured victims.
