Sudan Doctors Network informed that 21 people were killed and 47 injured as a result of the Rapid Support Forces targeting as several local journalists say the RSF marches to Al-Obeid prison.
Among the dead are ten civilians and two police officers, a local official from the state of North Kordofan told told a press agency, adding that “dozens were injured” as a result of this attack “with drones from the RSF” against the prison.
According to this source, the death toll is expected to rise, as some are in critical condition and have been transferred to various hospitals for treatment, making it difficult to obtain accurate statistics.
The paramilitaries attacked Port Sudan, the temporary administrative capital, in the east of the country for the seventh consecutive day, although the army’s anti-aircraft missiles intercepted the drones and shot them down in the Red Sea.
He added that the Rapid Support Forces attacked Port Sudan with more than 55 drones in a week, and that the army’s anti-aircraft weapons shot down more than 40 of them, while the rest attacked fuel depots, power plants and military sites.
The attacks on Port Sudan, about 650 kilometers northeast of Khartoum, come after the regular army managed to expel the paramilitaries from most of the country’s capital at the end of March, which they had occupied since the start of the war in April 2023.
After several defeats in the central-eastern part of the country in recent months, as well as in Khartoum, the paramilitaries have intensified their drone attacks against vital civilian and military installations in areas controlled by the army, including power plants in the north and east of the country.
