Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamed Mustafa stated at the UN on Monday that Palestine is ready to welcome an international Arab “support force” to bring stability and guarantee a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“The State of Palestine is ready to invite a stability support force through a resolution adopted by the Security Council,” Mustafa stated at the UN General Assembly in New York, where the first day of the International Conference for the Two-State Solution was held.
Mustafa emphasized that the foreign mission’s role is to facilitate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international resolutions and the two-state solution framework. He called on Israel to completely withdraw from Gaza and urged Hamas to surrender control and relinquish arms to the Palestinian Authority.
“We are cooperating with our Arab brothers and the international community to rebuild Gaza and prevent the displacement of our people from their land,” Mustafa added, highlighting ongoing work with Egypt to organize an international conference dedicated to Gaza’s reconstruction.
Regarding the humanitarian situation in the Strip, the Palestinian PM stated that “there are all kinds of deaths; Palestinians are murdered, burned, frozen, starved, sick, sad, and afraid. And every day, every moment, for more than 20 months, they send us a cry for help to save them from this slaughter, destruction, and disregard for their lives.”
In addition, he stated that Palestinians want a free, independent, and sovereign Palestinian state, modern and developed, of which all the sons and daughters of the Palestinian people everywhere are proud. “A state where law, peace, and security prevail. We want a state that is not subject to occupation, free from violence and terrorism, embracing a culture of peace and rising to meet the aspirations of our people and their great sacrifices, guaranteeing their rights and freedom and preserving their dignity.”
Since October 2023, when Israel launched an extensive military campaign the Gaza Strip has experienced a humanitarian catastrophe. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 58,000 Palestinians have died, although independent assessments suggest the toll, including indirect deaths from hunger and disease, could be significantly higher.
The region faces severe malnutrition, with the World Health Organization reporting a rise in starvation-related deaths, especially among vulnerable groups such as children under five years old. Nearly 1.9 million Palestinians—roughly 85% of Gaza’s population—have been displaced internally as infrastructure collapses under continuous bombardments. Basic services including electricity, clean water, and healthcare are on the verge of failure, and hospitals operate with severe fuel shortages.
Aid deliveries remain critically insufficient due to blockades, leaving over 90% of Gaza’s population facing acute food insecurity. Economically, Gaza has suffered losses exceeding $53 billion, with unemployment rates soaring to 80% and many chronic illnesses left untreated.
Egypt and regional Arab partners have proposed a $53 billion multi-year reconstruction strategy aiming to clear debris, provide shelter, and fully rebuild homes and infrastructure under the premise of Palestinian self-governance and a two-state solution.
The United Nations and humanitarian organizations stress that only a lasting ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and sustained international commitment can avert further suffering and lay the groundwork for recovery in Gaza.
