More than 30 Palestinians were killed Tuesday night near a humanitarian aid distribution center northwest of Gaza City, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The attack, reportedly carried out by Israeli forces, follows an earlier incident the same day in which over 60 civilians were killed and approximately 200 injured in Khan Younis and Rafah, where tanks, drones, and machine guns were used against crowds seeking food.
The latest killings are part of a pattern of deadly attacks near distribution sites operated by the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Since the GHF began operations in late May, more than 300 Palestinians have been killed and over 2,000 wounded while attempting to access food.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has condemned the attacks, calling for immediate, impartial investigations. He warned that the militarized aid system imposed by Israel may constitute a war crime, as it forces civilians to risk their lives for basic sustenance.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military campaign has killed over 55,000 Palestinians, injured 129,000, and displaced nearly 2 million people, according to Gaza health authorities. The blockade tightened on March 2, cutting off food, medicine, and fuel.
A brief ceasefire collapsed on March 18, after which more than 5,000 civilians were killed in renewed attacks.
