Nicaragua Sends Condolences to the Iranian People After Ayatollah Khamenei Death

The Government of Nicaragua expressed its “sincere condolences to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, for the martyrdom of its people and the ayatollah, and in union before God we always present ourselves urging peace.”

Nicaraguan government, headed by co-presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo condemned “all forms of war”, called for peace in the Middle East region after the attacks of the United States and Israel on Iran as well.

“In the face of the tragic events that are unfolding in the Islamic Republic of Iran, and throughout the region of the Middle East, the Government of Nicaragua, first of all, condemns all forms of war and calls for (…) to achieve (…) the miracle of peace”, they stated.

In addition, Ortega and Murillo called for “the continuation of a dialogue with well-intentioned and efficient negotiations that will put an end to this catastrophe,.”

“As brothers, on this plane of life, we are in solidarity with the suffering families everywhere in the world,” they concluded.

The statements come as tensions in the Middle East rise following new attacks in the region this Sunday.

The Iranian people mourned the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and members of his family as a result of attacks by the United States and Israel. Iran denounced these Israeli preemptive strikes as a crime against humanity to the UN.

Following the death of the Iranian leader, Iran has declared 40 days of mourning and formed a provisional council. In response to attacks on Iran, protests have erupted worldwide, including in the US. These attacks were aimed at regime change, but Iran responded with six waves of attacks.
