In a pronouncement, under the title ‘Nicaragua for truth, peace, justice and life’, the Nicaraguan government called for “respect for the sovereignty of the people of Venezuela,” and “joined the clamor of the entire world, which from a deep rejection affirms that we will continue fighting for international law and sovereignties to prevail.”
It also highlights that with the events of this day in Venezuela, peace has been “deeply wounded” and that “the human family, the community of nations, urge that it be reinstalled as an absolute reflection of the dignity of the peoples.”
In that same context, the government co-presided over by Ortega and Murillo indicates that they “wholeheartedly accompany” the call of the vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, “to defend the truth, justice and life, and to demand the immediate liberation of Compañero Nicolás Maduro and Compañera Cilia Flores,” his wife.
After the US bombing of Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, various political and social organizations, authorities and citizens of several countries expressed their condemnation of the aggression, describing it as an act of war.
Demonstrations of support and solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela were held in Cuba, Chile, Mexico, London, Colombia, Ecuador, Norway, Argentina and India, rejecting US intervention and demanding respect for Venezuelan sovereignty, as well as the immediate release of Maduro.
