Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that he “seeks to end the war in the Gaza Strip,” according to Israeli media. After the ceasefire with Iran, both the Zionist entity and the United States are now focusing on the next major objective of a New Middle East.

“The current intention is to try to reach normalization agreements with new countries,” which “will involve a prisoner exchange agreement and the end of the military operation in Gaza,” Keshet 12 reported. The channel further noted that “Netanyahu hints he is seeking to end the war” and “wants to reach the White House as soon as possible to wrap up the details.”

According to correspondent Yaron Avraham, Netanyahu “will hold a limited security meeting regarding the negotiations for the return of the prisoners, with enormous pressure from mediators to bring the parties together in the coming days, apparently in Cairo or Doha.”

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump believes an agreement could materialize soon, following conversations with “people involved.”

“We think within the next week we’re going to get a ceasefire,” the president said, without revealing his sources.

In light of this, Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer is scheduled to arrive in Washington on Monday, June 30. During his visit, he “will discuss all these issues with senior officials, including the end of the war”, Al Mayadeen said.

On the other hand, Al Jazeera’s analyst Nour Odeh points out that “Israel does not want to talk about ending the war. In fact, the Israeli prime minister would be risking a lot if he did,” however, she added, there is an understanding that Netanyahu would have to agree to some sort of ceasefire in exchange for normalization deals with Arab states, which the Trump administration is pursuing.

Amid this, the United Nations Security Council is set to hold an open session on Monday to address the situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Resolution 2334 demands that Israel immediately halt all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
