Khartoum, June 9, 2025 (teleSUR) – Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has sounded the alarm over worsening violence, hunger, and insecurity in South Darfur, Sudan, as detailed in its latest report, Voices from South Darfur.
South Darfur endured intense urban warfare in 2023, which destroyed hospitals and critical infrastructure, leaving civilians vulnerable to sexual violence and arbitrary detentions.
Despite a halt in ground fighting, air and drone strikes continue, while road and farmland insecurity persists.
MSF has treated over 10,000 children for acute malnutrition and provided nutrition support to thousands of pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The organization warns that food shortages will worsen with the arrival of the rainy and lean seasons, pushing families to the brink of survival.
MSF urges greater support for local actors who possess the knowledge and capacity to save lives, emphasizing the need for immediate humanitarian intervention.
