Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has intensified once again, leaving at least 43 Palestinian civilians dead in the early hours of Tuesday, including six individuals seeking humanitarian aid, according to medical sources. The most devastating strike targeted a refugee camp in Nuseirat, central Gaza, where 30 civilians were killed, many of them women and children.
The Al Awda Hospital confirmed receiving the bodies, describing the aftermath as catastrophic, with many victims arriving in pieces.
These attacks occurred despite Israel’s announcement of a “tactical pause” meant to facilitate humanitarian aid distribution. However, reports from local health authorities and international observers suggest that the pause has not translated into meaningful relief.
Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, Gaza’s death toll has surpassed 59,900, with over 145,000 injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. In recent days, hunger-related deaths have surged, as Israel continues to impose severe restrictions on aid entry.
Although 200 trucks and 20 pallets of food were reportedly allowed in on Monday, the UN and humanitarian organizations warn that this is far from sufficient for a population enduring 22 months of total siege.
The situation is further complicated by accusations from Israeli NGOs, including B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel, which have for the first time publicly accused the Israeli government of committing genocide in Gaza. Their reports cite deliberate obstruction of aid, targeting of civilians, and systematic destruction of infrastructure.
International pressure is mounting. Spain, France, and 25 other countries have called for an immediate end to the war and unrestricted humanitarian access.
Meanwhile, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the crisis as “a horror without precedent,” emphasizing that malnutrition and starvation are now widespread among medical workers, journalists, and displaced families.
