Mumbai witnessed a massive turnout, as thousands joined a candlelight march and condolence gathering to honor Ayatollah Syed Ali Hussaini Khamenei in a solemn display of grief and solidarity.


Mumbai witnessed a massive turnout on March 2, 2026 as thousands gathered for a condolence meeting and candlelight march to pay tribute to Ayatollah Syed Ali Hussaini Khamenei. The march commenced from Mughal Masjid and proceeded peacefully towards Imamiya Masjid, where the main condolence assembly was held.

People from both Shia and Sunni communities participated in large numbers, reflecting unity and solidarity during the solemn occasion. Participants carried candles and portraits, expressing grief and respect. The atmosphere throughout the procession was deeply emotional and dignified.

Several prominent scholars were present at the march, including Maulana Husain Mehdi Hussaini, Maulana Aziz Haider, Maulana Rooh-e-Zafar, Maulana Mohammad Kararvi, and Maulana Hasan Raza Banarsi, along with many other respected ulema. They addressed the gathering and emphasized patience, unity, and steadfastness during this difficult time.

Members from the Iranian Consulate also joined the march, expressing their condolences and solidarity. Their presence added international significance to the event.

A notable aspect of the procession was the strong participation of women. A large number of ladies attended the candlelight march, holding candles and portraits, demonstrating deep respect and commitment.

During the march, slogans were raised expressing political sentiments, including chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” as participants voiced their protest and emotions.

The event concluded at Imamiya Masjid with prayers and a formal condolence gathering. The program ended with collective supplications and tribute, marking the occasion as a powerful expression of unity, grief, and solidarity in Mumbai.
