Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro firmly rejected the opposition’s campaign urging citizens to abstain from the upcoming legislative and regional elections on May 25, 2025. Speaking to RT, Maduro declared that those promoting abstention “will fail once again,” recalling their repeated defeats in the political arena. He emphasized that the Venezuelan people will continue to govern themselves through a revolutionary, anti-imperialist process rooted in popular sovereignty.

Contrary to narratives propagated by Western-controlled media and social networks, Maduro highlighted the vitality of Venezuela’s democracy, pointing out the participation of 54 political parties and over 6,500 candidates in the elections.

He framed this electoral contest as a “new conquest of the revolutionary, anti-imperialist resistance of the Venezuelan people,” a process that strengthens peace, stability, and a democracy distinct from the “liberal, bourgeois, oligarchic, and neocolonial” models imposed by imperial powers.

Maduro underscored that Venezuela’s democracy is “the democracy of the rebellious people, who speak, decide, and carry the rebellion of an entire continent: Latin America and the Caribbean.”

He contrasted this with the failed democratic models of other nations, emphasizing that Venezuela’s path is forged by the people’s courage and collective will, inspired by the legacy of Simón Bolívar and Hugo Chávez.

Part of the text reads: After arriving from Barcelona, I couldn’t resist the joy of making a surprise visit to La Guaira. I am passionate about campaigns, so I decided to greet and embrace the people of La Guaira.
It is crucial to empower our neighbors, strengthening the training and grassroots organization of their leadership. This is how the new democracy is built.

Ahead of the elections, Maduro joined a massive closing campaign mobilization in Caracas organized by the Simón Bolívar Great Patriotic Pole (GPPSB). He praised the grassroots connection of the revolutionary movement, stating, “This is our essence, we are from the streets, forged alongside the people, and we owe ourselves to them.” He reiterated that after 32 elections, the movement is on the verge of its 30th victory.

Building on the vibrant scene in Caracas, Maduro’s presence at the GPPSB mobilization served as a powerful reminder of the deep-rooted bond between the revolutionary leadership and the Venezuelan people.

The text reads: #LIVE | President of #Venezuela #NicolásMaduro: We are testing a new model of direct democracy, and I believe it is going better than ever, surpassing the old concept of bourgeois, representative democracy—the old concept of so-called liberal democracy, which is not truly liberal.

The streets were alive with chants, music, and colorful banners, reflecting a collective spirit of resilience and determination that has defined the Bolivarian Revolution for over two decades.

Maduro emphasized that this connection to the grassroots is what sustains the movement through challenges and external pressures. He highlighted that each election victory is not just a political win but a reaffirmation of the people’s trust and their ongoing commitment to shaping a sovereign and just society.

This renewed hope, palpable among the crowds, signals a collective readiness to continue advancing the revolutionary agenda and to confront future obstacles with unity and strength.

Maduro also addressed security concerns, announcing the dismantling of a terrorist operation involving individuals linked to Colombia and Miami. He credited the effectiveness of popular vigilance and called on revolutionary forces to remain alert.

Furthermore, he urged the Venezuelan people to protect polling stations from fascist threats and to participate actively in this democratic exercise, which he described as a step toward “more democracy, more economic recovery, and more popular sovereignty.”
