Kazakhstan and China Sign 24 Agreements During Xi Jinping’s Visit

Kazakhstan and China signed 24 bilateral cooperation agreements today following the meeting between Kazakh President Kasim-Yomart Tokayev and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Kazakh Presidency reported.

“The delegations of the two countries exchanged documents addressing cooperation in the areas of energy, aerospace, digitalization, customs control, agriculture, e-commerce, tourism, medicine, media, science, and interregional communications,” Akorda’s press service reported.
The parties also signed agreements to boost mutual investment protection and technical and economic cooperation.
The Kazakh Presidency received the Chinese leader, who met with Tokayev. Xi arrived in Kazakhstan on Monday to participate in the Second China-Central Asia Summit, where they will discuss multilateral cooperation in several key sectors.
The Chinese president, who turned 72 yesterday, will participate in the international meeting this Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss cooperation between China and Central Asian countries, which are gaining greater global importance due to their geostrategic position as an Asian corridor to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Some of the issues to be discussed in the Kazakh capital are trade, energy, technological cooperation, agricultural, industrial, and logistics.Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated today that trade volume between China and the five countries in the region—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan—grew 116% between 2013 and 2024.
