Israeli troops opened fire on a group of Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid near a distribution center in Rafah, killing at least eight people, according to Gaza health officials.
The attack occurred at Al-Alam roundabout, approximately one kilometer from the aid center, which Israel considers an active combat zone at night.
Since the new aid distribution system was introduced on May 27, over 100 Palestinians have been killed while attempting to collect food, raising concerns about humanitarian access and safety.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has criticized the Israel- and U.S.-backed aid distribution model, calling it a “death trap” that forces starving civilians to walk long distances through bombed-out areas.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed over 54,880 Palestinians and injured at least 126,227, with 10,000 victims still trapped under rubble.
Despite repeated calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire, Israel continues its military operations, ignoring international legal rulings demanding urgent measures to halt the violence.
