At least 27 Palestinians were killed and nearly 200 wounded in an Israeli attack targeting displaced civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the victims were gathered near an aid distribution center when Israeli artillery and warplanes struck the crowd.

The attack follows similar incidents in recent days, with Doctors Without Borders confirming multiple fatalities at aid sites backed by the U.S. and Israel.

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini condemned the new aid distribution system, calling it a “death trap”, and urged Israel to lift the blockade to allow safe humanitarian access.

Escalating Death Toll

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military operations have killed over 54,510 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and wounded 124,901 others.
