The Israeli army acknowledged shooting at Gazan civilians who approached the Zikim border crossing in the northern part of the enclave on Wednesday afternoon to receive humanitarian aid trucks, in incidents during which medical sources say at least 30 people were killed. The Zionist military labels them as “warning shots”.

This has become a common practice in the Strip, where the population, experiencing famine due to the Israeli blockade, rushes en masse to obtain food.

The killings occurred between 7:00 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. GMT), during what are known as “tactical pauses” between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., announced in recent days by the Israeli army, during which it said it would refrain from attacking certain areas of the Palestinian enclave to facilitate the entry and distribution of aid.

These deaths add to the 1,239 people who have been killed by Israeli army fire while attempting to collect aid since the distribution of humanitarian assistance under military control began in the Strip at the end of May, following more than two months of total blockade.

According to WAFA News Agency, the overall death toll from attacks targeting aid seekers over the past 24 hours has reached 60, with more than 195 wounded.
