At least 17 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours as Israeli airstrikes continued across the Gaza Strip, targeting homes, refugee camps, and makeshift shelters for displaced families.
Among the dead were 11 members of the Joudeh family, killed when their home in the Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, was struck. In Deir al-Balah, a father and his son died after their house was bombed. Drone strikes also hit tents sheltering displaced people west of Khan Younis, killing two and injuring several others.
Another airstrike in the al-Bureij refugee camp claimed the life of one civilian and wounded others in the al-Kharoubi family home.
Since the war began on October 7, 2023, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports 57,680 Palestinians killed—the majority women and children—and 137,409 injured. Over 10,000 remain missing, presumed buried under rubble.
Meanwhile, indirect ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas resumed in Doha, with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff expressing hope for a 60-day truce agreement by week’s end.
Hamas, however, reiterated its non-surrender stance, with senior official Izzat al-Rishq dismissing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claims of victory as “psychological delusions.” Al-Rishq emphasized that the only viable path to prisoner release is through a serious negotiated agreement, not military operations.
