During the Energy Panel, Rodriguez denounced that Iran, a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and OPEC+, “is the victim of an illegal aggression by Israel.”

“That, without a doubt, will have repercussions on the international energy market and, without a doubt, compromises energy security,” declared the Venezuelan Minister of Hydrocarbons.

Rodríguez also stressed the importance of maintaining the energy trilemma, a concept that encompasses three fundamental pillars: reliable supply, equity in access to energy and production through mechanisms that respect the environment with the least possible impact.

We are always advocating for the energy transition to be done with responsibility, with realistic criteria, so that abrupt changes are not generated that compromise energy security, the official emphasized.

The Executive Vice President defended a comprehensive vision that guarantees security, accessibility, and climate commitment for the benefit of humanity, rejecting unilateral measures that affect the main energy producers.

In addition, Rodriguez denounced that sanctions against countries producing fossil fuels threaten global energy security, and called for a diplomacy based on dialogue, such as that promoted by OPEC+ and the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries, to resolve international tensions.

Venezuela was elected to chair the Ministerial Council of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) for the period 2025-2026, underlining its commitment to energy.

Rodríguez participates in Saint Petersburg reiterating the position of Venezuela to promote a responsible energy transition. The St Petersburg International Economic Forum serves as a platform for dialogue between energy producing and consuming nations.
