Israel has deployed additional troops to border areas inside southern Lebanon, a military spokesperson confirmed Tuesday, March 3, framing it as a defensive measure against potential Hezbollah actions on its northern frontier.

“Our soldiers are operating in southern Lebanon, in some positions near the border area as part of an enhanced advanced defensive posture,” military spokesperson Nadav Shoshani said in a video conference with the international press.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the measure “to advance and take control of additional strategic positions” in Lebanon had been authorized jointly with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Despite the November 2024 ceasefire and its missed withdrawal deadline more than a year ago, the Zionist entity maintains five border posts inside Lebanon. According to Shoshani, Tel Aviv’s regime has now quietly positioned forces on even more high ground, locations undisclosed.

Israel continued bombing southern Lebanon in 2025 and in recent months, despite the peace deal, and the Zionist regime has been targeting the nation since Monday, March 2, following an attack by Hezbollah in retaliation for the joint US-Israeli aggression against Iran that resulted in the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The strikes have so far killed at least 31 people in Lebanon and displaced many more.
