For its part, an Israeli military spokesman has stated that Israel is attacking Iran and added that the Iranian attacks against Israel have not ended and Israel will continue to attack and destroy Iranian ground-to-ground missile bases.

An Israeli drone strike targeted a refinery in the South Pars gas field, located in Bushehr province in southern Iran, causing a fire.

The fire, whose images were verified by the Sanad agency of Qatari broadcasting Al Jazeera, showed a large conflagration with huge columns of smoke, although the Iranian Oil Ministry reported that it has now been extinguished.

“Following this incident, with the rapid and timely presence of the oil industry operational forces, fire containment and control operations began and the fire was completely contained in the shortest possible time,” the ministry said in a statement, according to Tasnim news agency.

In addition, Tasnim Iran’s news agency says Iranian air defences have struck an “unidentified object” over the city of Mashhad in the northeast of the country.

Iraqi News Agency quoted the spokesperson for the head of the country’s army, saying that the Iraqi government reiterates its complete rejection of the violation of Iraqi airspace and its use in military attacks committed by Israel against Iran, or against any of the neighbouring regional countries.

The Iraqi government is following up with international parties on all these illegal actions, which it considers a blatant violation of Iraqi sovereignty and the principles of international law, with their negative impact on stability and peace in the region.

Iran’s response to this new aggresions will come into a few hours. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the Iranian Armed Forces will act strongly and render the despicable Israeli “regime” helpless.

Khamenei issued a message to the Iranian nation on Friday, and added that the Israeli regime will not escape unscathed from this crime and assured the Iranian nation that there will be no negligence in this regard. The Leader emphasized that “the evil and wicked Zionist regime has made a big mistake, the consequences of which will make it helpless.”
