Israeli Official Recognizes Major Setbacks in Confronting Iran
In a rare public admission, an Israeli official cited by Channel 10 has acknowledged that Israel is still far from achieving its stated goal of eliminating Iran’s nuclear program. The source, whose identity was not disclosed, stated, “the complete elimination of the Iranian nuclear project is still far from being achieved.”
This recognition comes amid an unprecedented escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran, marked by mutual attacks and threats against sensitive facilities in the region.
Two Scenarios on the Table: Diplomacy or Military Action
The Israeli official outlined two possible scenarios for dealing with the Iranian nuclear challenge:
-A final agreement between Tehran and Washington.
-The total destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
However, the source emphasized that the second scenario is not viable without direct and substantial backing from the United States. “Israel does not have the capacity to carry out this mission alone,” the official admitted, underscoring Tel Aviv’s strategic dependence on Washington for large-scale military operations.

Current Strategy: Political and Economic Pressure
Tzachi Hanegbi, head of Israel’s National Security Council, has also recently acknowledged the country’s strategic limitations. Hanegbi explained that the current objective is not the outright destruction of Iran’s nuclear program, but rather to impose political and economic costs on Tehran to force a change of direction, citing the cases of Libya and South Africa as historical precedents.
These statements from Israeli officials come at a time of unprecedented regional escalation. It could be argued that a military option against Iran is not only unfeasible without external support, but could also trigger a regional war with unpredictable consequences.
These admissions highlight the limitations of militarist approaches and the urgent need for diplomatic and multilateral solutions to ensure peace and security in the Middle East.
