According to the communiqué, Prime Minister Netanyahu held a meeting with Defense Minister Israel Katz, the Chief of Staff, and the head of Mossad to inform them that Israel had achieved all the goals of Operation ‘Rising Lion,’ which began in the early hours of June 13th when the Israeli Air Force bombed targets in Iran.
“Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their support and participation in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat,” the statement continued, referring to the U.S. bombings on Sunday against three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
“Israel has eliminated an immediate dual existential threat,” the text claimed.
Shortly before the ceasefire took effect, Iranian nuclear scientist Sedighi Saber was assassinated in the latest Israeli terrorist attack in northern Tehran, according to Press TV, which provided no further details. This marks the eleventh nuclear scientist killed by Israel since June 13th.
Previously, Iranian Foreing Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed that “provided the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 a.m. Tehran time, we have no intention of continuing our response afterward”.
Several politicians and world leaders have condemned the actions of both Tel Aviv and Washington, labeling them a “dangerous escalation” and a “criminal act.” Critical voices include Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, among other nations.
