Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson sharply criticized the EU’s High Representative Kaja Kallas for failing to condemn Israeli aggression, calling on her to stop defending the aggressor while ignoring Israel’s nuclear arsenal amid escalating attacks on Iranian territory.

Since June 13, 2025, when Israel launched unprovoked military strikes against Iran, tensions in the Middle East have surged dramatically. The international community remains deeply divided, with Iran firmly rejecting accusations related to its nuclear program, while denouncing Israel’s unchecked nuclear arsenal and ongoing military aggression.
Against this backdrop, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, publicly confronted the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, over her recent comments on Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
In a pointed message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Baqaei accused Kallas of acting as an “apologist for the aggressor.” He questioned how the EU diplomat could express concern about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, which operates under the strictest inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), while ignoring Israel’s vast and undeclared nuclear weapons arsenal.
Baqaei emphasized that Tehran has never sought nuclear weapons, contrasting this with Tel Aviv, which he identified as the “only obstacle” to a nuclear-free Middle East. He challenged Kallas’s calls for “de-escalation” without condemning Israel’s aggression or demanding an end to its war crimes. This direct challenge exposes the EU’s failure to hold Israel accountable and reveals the imbalance in international diplomatic discourse.

Iran’s response comes amid widespread international condemnation of Israel’s offensive. Russia, China, and numerous countries worldwide have denounced the attacks as serious violations of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed grave concern over the conflict’s potential to escalate uncontrollably, warning of “unpredictable consequences” for the entire Middle East region. Russia’s UN ambassador, Vasili Nebenzia, went further, cautioning that Israel’s actions risk pushing the region toward a “large-scale nuclear catastrophe.”
From Latin America, countries including Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba, and Nicaragua have voiced their strong rejection of Tel Aviv’s military operations. Likewise, key nations in the Islamic world, such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan, have condemned the attacks, underscoring the broad global opposition to Israel’s aggressive posture.
