Iran Fires Missiles at U.S. Military Base in Qatar

On Monday, Iranian authorities confirmed that their country’s military forces successfully launched missiles at the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

This military action came in retaliation for the US bombing of three key facilities for Iran’s nuclear program over the weekend.
According to international press reports, Al- Udeid Air Base houses at least 10,000 U.S. troops and is the largest U.S. military base in the Middle East. Residents of northern Doha, the capital of Qatar, reported that the explosions were so intense they shook their homes.
As the center of operations for the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), Al-Udeid Air Base is a target of high symbolic and military value for Iranian forces.
Iranian operations were not limited to Qatari territory. An Israeli official revealed to Axios that Tehran also fired projectiles into Iraq, where the United States maintains several strategic military bases. Air defenses at multiple US installations in Iraq were activated in response to the imminent threat.
Al-Assad Air Base, located in Iraq’s Al Anbar Governorate, is strategically crucial for the United States. Its infrastructure allows it to host fighter jets, air defense systems, and perform training functions.
