The Network of Intellectuals, Artists, and Social Movements in Defense of Humanity (REDH) denounced this Sunday before the international community that the joint bombings of Iran by the United States and Israel, carried out on February 28, constitute a war crime.

According to preliminary figures from the organization, the attack hit the Shajareh Tayyibeh primary school, located in the city of Minab, killing 148 people, mostly underage girls, and leaving more than 90 injured.

REDH described the action as a “flagrant violation” of the Geneva Conventions, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter. The organization pointed out the cynicism of President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who justify the massacre under the pretext of “eliminating imminent threats” while destroying civilian targets and murdering Iranian children.

Intellectuals denounce a global strategy of plunder and hegemony, linking the current aggression with a history of imperialist interventionism. They point out that the same criminal alliance is responsible for the destruction of Libya and Iraq, the siege of Syria, the blockades against Cuba and Venezuela, and the genocide in Gaza.

They affirm that Washington’s objective is to perpetuate an order of resource plundering and the annihilation of sovereign projects that challenge US hegemony in the Global South.

Given the seriousness of this military escalation, which threatens a conflagration of global scope, REDH expressed its militant and unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people.

“Their pain is ours; the defense of Iran’s sovereignty is the defense of all peoples,” the text reads.

They made an urgent call to artists, social movements, and worthy governments of the world to raise their voices to demand the immediate cessation of the bombings and the trial of those responsible before international justice. Inspired by the legacy of Bolívar, Martí, Fidel, and Chávez, REDH declared that popular unity is the only force capable of stopping imperialist arrogance in this hour of definitions.
