The Pakistani government has confirmed the launch of Operation Bunyan ul Marsoos, a large-scale military offensive against India that began in the early hours of May 10. This action comes in response to Operation Sindoor, initiated by India on May 7, which targeted alleged terrorist facilities in Pakistani territory and the Jammu and Kashmir region.

Pakistani authorities stated their operation aims to counter what they call India’s “continuous provocations.” In an official release, they confirmed “attacking multiple targets across India,” starting with the destruction of a BrahMos missile storage site in Beas, followed by strikes on military infrastructure, including the Udhampur and Pathankot airbases.

Tensions flared after the April 22 terrorist attack in Kashmir, which killed 26 people (25 Indians and one Nepali). India’s retaliatory strikes claimed to target only terrorist groups, with its Defense Ministry reporting 70 militants killed and over 60 injured. However, Pakistan disputes these figures, asserting Indian attacks killed 31 civilians and wounded 57. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned India of “consequences,” while Pakistan’s National Security Committee authorized its military to respond at will.Fresh clashes have erupted along the Line of Control, with at least 16 dead, dozens of aircraft downed, and civilian infrastructure destroyed. The nuclear-armed neighbors remain locked in a cycle of accusations, with hostilities reaching dangerous new heights.
