This electoral process is the culmination of a long-awaited journey, sparked by the overwhelming approval of 95% of Venezuelans in a popular consultation on December 3, 2023, and subsequently ratified by the organic law passed in April 2024.

Citizens eagerly exercising their right to vote have expressed their excitement and pride in this historic day, emphasizing that voting is the «only peaceful tool» to defend Guayana Esequiba against any violent or «war-mongering» approaches, as some have criticized Guyana’s stance.

The call to the population is clear: communicate and participate massively in this peaceful journey to reinforce Venezuelan sovereignty over the disputed territory.

The electoral process in Guayana Esequiba is proceeding with high turnout and absolute normalcy, according to reports from the region. Polling stations opened early this Sunday, May 25, 2025, and so far, there have been «no reports, denunciations, or incidents» disrupting any center. Citizens are acutely aware of the historic significance of this moment and are participating without any altercations.

Authorities and citizens alike have praised the tranquility of the process, highlighting the resolve of the people of Guayana Esequiba to establish their political and legal framework. With 12 voting centers strategically placed in key locations such as El Dorado, Las Claritas, and San Martín de Turumbán, approximately 21,500 residents, including indigenous populations, are exercising their right to vote. The process follows the standard «herradura» format set by the National Electoral Council (CNE), including fingerprint identification and the use of voting machines that issue a ballot for record-keeping.

Voting is expected to conclude at 6:00 PM local time or until all individuals in line have cast their votes. Notably, indigenous communities from remote areas have undertaken journeys of several hours by boat to reach voting centers like El Dorado, underscoring their commitment to this historic event.
