Investigations revealed meetings where specific rates for sabotage were established.

On Thursday, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh denounced that some participants in recent protests received direct payments to carry out terrorist acts, murders, and arson.

Investigations revealed meetings where specific rates for sabotage were established: the murder of an individual was set at 500 million tomans, burning a vehicle at 200 million and attacking police stations at 80 million. Nasirzadeh reported the arrest of an individual who accumulated more than US$6,000 through these criminal activities, confirming the instrumentalization of violence funded from abroad.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi explained that the protests that began in December 2025 started with legitimate economic demands from union sectors. However, they devolved into a second stage of destabilization after terrorist groups appeared between Jan. 8 and 10.

These mobilizations, which have the support of monarchist sectors in exile, occur in a context of maximum economic pressure due to Western sanctions that keep inflation at 39% and have caused a historic depreciation of the local currency.

Facing this hybrid war scenario, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf warned that his country would not hesitate to attack targets in Israeli territory and U.S. military installations in the Middle East if an armed aggression materializes.

In response, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to use unprecedented force and decreed an additional 25% tariff against any country that maintains trade ties with the Persian nation.

Iranian authorities affirmed they will defend national sovereignty against attempts at foreign interference seeking to break the constitutional order established since 1979.

Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, denounced that SpaceX’s Starlink satellite terminals are being used illegally to coordinate acts of sabotage and destabilize national security.

Given that the use of these information technologies contravenes international legislation in force since the 1990s, the Radio Communications Regulation Committee requested Starlink immediately deactivate equipment operating without authorization.

Bahreini emphasized that Iran will exercise its sovereign right and duty to stop any action that threatens its integrity through the use of uncontrolled satellite networks. He also exhorted the International Telecommunication Union to apply concrete measures to ensure compliance with international norms and prevent these technological tools from being used as instruments of interference or political destabilization.

Facing the possibility of U.S. aggression, Iranian authorities temporarily closed their airspace until 3:30 GMT on Thursday. After the period of notification to airmen was completed, Iran’s civil aviation organization issued a statement reporting the reopening of all routes for transit, incoming and outgoing flights, ensuring the normalization of airport services.
