The registration of these alliances was carried out within the maximum period established by national law, which was set for midnight this Saturday, while political parties with official registration seeking to independently attend the elections may present their candidates until December 23.

“We have five applications submitted, one of which has been observed, and the other four have been referred to the National Directorate of the Registry of Political Organizations for the review and substantive evaluation process,” the JNE said at the close of the alliance registration period.

The final list of registered alliances will be announced on September 1 by the JNE, after evaluating compliance with legal requirements.

In that sense, Unidad Nacional submitted its application, made up of the center-right groups Christian People’s Party, Unidad y Paz, and Peruanos Unidos: ¡Somos Libres!, a coalition that has reported that its presidential candidate will be the current congressman and former army general Roberto Chiabra.

“We are the first alliance (to register) and this has happened because the member parties have ideological and programmatic coincidences,” the group’s spokesperson, Jimy Benites, told RPP radio.

The centrist electoral alliance Fuerza y Libertad was also presented, made up of the Fuerza Moderna and Batalla Perú parties, led by former minister Fiorella Molinelli and the current governor of the central region of Junín, Zósimo Cárdenas.

“We position ourselves as a center option, a solid project with a territorial focus, we want to articulate all the regions with leadership and technical capacity,” Molinelli said when presenting her alliance.

In addition, the request of Ahora Nación was received, made up of the parties Perú Nación, led by the former university rector Alfonso López Chau, and Salvemos al Perú, from the former Minister of the Interior Mariano González, although this request was observed by the JNE, which gave them until Tuesday to incorporate a document in which both groups “explicitly express their agreement with the formation of the alliance,” according to the head of the JNE’s Office of User Services and Document Management, Luis Grillo.
