‘A dignified and promising future is coming for all Ecuadorians,’ Luisa Gonzalez said.
On Sunday, over 13 million citizens are called to the polls to elect the next president of Ecuador in a runoff election in which Citizen Revolution candidate Luisa Gonzalez and President Daniel Noboa are competing to lead the country until 2029.

In accordance with routine procedures, the National Electoral Council (CNE) determined that both candidates may carry out campaign activities until Thursday, April 4.
Leftist candidate Gonzalez reaffirmed her proposals to strengthen the state in order to address the needs of a population left dissatisfied after seven years of right-wing governments. In Quito, surrounded by thousands of supporters, she highlighted the unity achieved among various political forces with the goal of preventing Noboa’s reelection.
“Being here today is an expression of hope for better days for our homeland,” said Gonzalez, committing to address problems related to security, education, healthcare, and public infrastructure.
“We have shown that unity among all organizations from the private sector, civil society, the left, and the right was possible—and we made it happen,” she emphasized during an event attended by her vice-presidential candidate, Diego Borja.
“They have let Ecuador fall to the ground, beaten and wounded. We are going to lift it back up. Luisa will lift it back up. We are going to have the first government led by a woman—a brave woman who understands the needs of the people, who comes from humble origins, and who knows what it means to care for children,” he said.
Gonzalez firmly rejected the rumors about her 11-year-old son, which have been spread by the ruling party, National Democratic Action, and echoed by Erik Prince, the mercenary founder of Blackwater, with whom President Noboa announced a “strategic alliance” supposedly aimed at confronting organized crime in the country.
“Next Sunday, we are going to vote with joy, hope, and the belief that a dignified and promising future is coming for all Ecuadorians,” she said.
For his part, reelection candidate Noboa appeared at the Rumiñahui Coliseum, calling on his supporters to mobilize and “defend the vote” in the upcoming election. “The final battle will be this Sunday,” he said during a speech in which he was accompanied by vice-presidential candidate Maria Jose Pinto.
