In the context of Venezuelas municipal elections on July 27, 2025, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez affirmed that “this is an election within our consolidated electoral system, a very vigorous democracy.”

She emphasized how these elections stand out by allowing young people not only to vote but also to be elected, as citizens collectively choose the projects of our youth. Rodriguez expressed personal joy, saying “as an adult I feel happy because it allows us to be more sensitive to the interests and aspirations of youth,” stressing that no other country has this type of youth empowerment.

Vice President Rodriguez contrasted Venezuela’s approach with that of Europe and the United States, where “youth are excluded from political, economic, and social life.” In stark opposition, she insisted that “the Venezuelan people are here supporting and accompanying young people in their projects.” These elections symbolize a reaffirmation of political inclusion and social justice for the country’s younger generations.

Rodriguez connected the electoral moment to Venezuela’s broader trajectory of recovery. She stated that “we have not only completed a constitutional cycle but also come through a process of economic recovery.” Highlighting ongoing progress, she said, “the Venezuelan economy continues to grow and will keep growing thanks to national unity around Venezuela’s productive capacities.”

She called Venezuela’s economic strategy “a new model of diversified economy that fully exploits the country’s capacities.” This approach underpins the politically participatory process, symbolizing resilience and hope.

The text reads: Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez: “We are choosing the projects of our youth. As an adult, I feel happy because it allows us to be more sensitive to the interests, to the aspirations of the youth”

Expanding her message beyond national borders, Vice President Rodriguez condemned ongoing global atrocities, affirming Venezuela’s solidarity with oppressed peoples. She declared, “we are witnesses to the worst genocide known to humanity, the genocide against the Palestinian people.” She further asserted that “extremism and fascism are left behind in Venezuela,” framing the Bolivarian state as a bastion against hatred and violence.

Closing her declarations, Rodriguez confidently predicted that “tonight the Venezuelan people will be celebrating in all the municipalities across the country.” She framed the municipal elections and youth consultations as not just a constitutional fulfillment but as a triumphant expression of living, direct, and participatory democracy that empowers the people and especially the youth to continue building Venezuela’s revolutionary future.
