The acting president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, oversaw the start of the second term of the 2025-2026 school year nationwide on Monday, January 12. More than six million children returned to their academic activities.
During the day, Rodríguez inaugurated the “Pedro Camejo” National School, a state-of-the-art facility for 106 students, located in the César Nieves sector of Catia La Mar, La Guaira state. The acting president also oversaw the simultaneous inauguration of 11 other schools, bringing the total number of renovated centers across the country to 1,725.

The acting president emphasized that, in response to the recent attacks on civil infrastructure, the Bolivarian Government has deployed organized grassroots movements to ensure that public education remains operational and free of charge.
For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, reported that school enrollment in the country has reached 97 percent, driven by the strengthening of the School Feeding Program (PAE), which serves two million students daily with domestically produced supplies.
As part of this effort, 100 new trucks were added to optimize school logistics, while 400,000 teachers were deployed to classrooms to ensure the continuity of the academic calendar. Currently, Venezuela maintains a governance structure headed by interim president Delcy Rodríguez, as the constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, remains imprisoned in the United States since his kidnapping.
The Venezuelan state is focusing its efforts on the restoration of basic services and the maintenance of social programs such as the School Feeding Program. The restoration of 200 of the 226 schools in La Guaira state and the nationwide distribution of technological equipment and furniture are part of the plan to heal the wounds of the economic war.
This comprehensive care policy seeks to counteract the effects of military and economic intervention, prioritizing educational sovereignty as the central axis of public management at the beginning of 2026.
