Deaths From Gunfire Near Aid Distribution Point in Gaza Rise to 39

The death toll in the new distribution points managed by the U.S. and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has risen to 39, and the number of injured to more than 220 in less than a week, according to Palestinian authorities.

The Israeli occupation forces opened fire on civilians attempting to access a relief centre in al-Mawasi, west of Rafah, causing many deaths and injuries, An incident that adds to a series of recent attacks on Palestinians seeking humanitarian assistance.
According to local sources, Israeli tanks opened fire around 4:00 AM (local time) on “all civilians” who had approached a distribution point in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah.
The Gazan Civil Defense warned that its teams cannot reach the site of the attack in the southern city of Rafah “due to the extreme danger,” as Israeli forces are opening fire on areas near distribution centers.
Additionally, the Al Wada Hospital in Nuseirat, in the center of the Strip, reported the death of one Gazan and 18 injuries, including three children, near another aid point in the Netzarim area due to Israeli attacks this morning.
“It has been demonstrated with blood, eyewitness accounts, field reports, and even international assessments that the project of ‘distributing humanitarian aid through containment zones’ is a failed and dangerous initiative,” the Gazatian officials add in its statement.
Israel, which has blocked the border crossings into Gaza for more than 90 days, restricting the entry of essential humanitarian resources, especially food, placing a large number of people on the brink of famine.
Since October 2023, Israel’s constant aggression on the Palestinian enclave has so far resulted in at least 54,381 deaths and more than 124,381 injuries.
