During his remarks, he reaffirmed the Cuban Revolution’s interest in strengthening ties with Eurasian countries. His full speech is presented below.
“A long journey and an honorable mission bring us back to the historic and beautiful city of Minsk. It is truly an honor for Cuba to participate in this edition of the 4th Eurasian Economic Forum, an essential platform for business exchange within the integrative space of the Union.
For the second time, a Cuban business delegation organized by our Chamber of Commerce is attending this forum. This delegation reflects our determination to strengthen economic, trade and financial ties with the Union, its member states and observers — countries with which we share excellent relations and a high level of dialogue based on historic bonds of friendship.
Despite the harsh blockade imposed by our powerful neighbor, the Cuban companies represented here today are offering a wide range of exportable products and investment opportunities. These are accompanied by the benefits of our legislation and domestic market, the high qualifications of our professional and technical workforce, and the infrastructure and facilities developed in various zones across the country.
To inform and clarify the pathways for deepening these business-to-business relations, a panel has been organized on ‘Opportunities for the Development of Economic Links between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.’
President Diaz-Canel’s text reads, “In the Belmedpreparaty and Akademfarm pharmaceutical companies, and at the Minsk Tractor Plant, there is great potential for cooperation between Cuba and Belarus, for the benefit of our peoples. We agreed with President Lukashenko to better exploit opportunities in these and other areas.”
This effort also includes the initiative to use Cuba as a logistics and investment hub, leveraging the advantages of the Mariel Special Development Zone and the island’s geographic location to serve as a gateway for the entry and expansion of Eurasian products into the Latin American and Caribbean region.
This is a particularly important project, as it would allow for the creation of a logistics center for receiving and distributing cargo from Union countries to Latin America and vice versa. Such a center would facilitate transit and expand the export potential of Union members.
In support of these goals, I would like to extend a cordial invitation to the Eurasian Economic Commission and companies from its member states to participate in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), which will take place from Nov. 24 to 29.
We are open to deepening exchanges in key sectors such as biopharmaceuticals, agriculture, the sugar agroindustry, light and metalworking industries, as well as the chemical industry, transportation, construction, communications, digitalization and artificial intelligence, renewable energy, tourism, health, science, education, and sports. The cooperation we achieve should lead us to complementary mechanisms that foster sustained and mutually beneficial growth.
In this joint effort to build a shared space for development and integration — based on fairer and more equitable economic relations — we reaffirm Cuba’s full willingness and commitment to continue moving forward together. Thank you for your welcome and support. Together and united, we can overcome challenges that today may seem impossible.”
