Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has strongly condemned Israel’s recent intensification of military operations in the Gaza Strip, which aim to forcibly displace the majority of the Palestinian population.
In a post on social media platform X, Rodríguez described these actions as a violation of International Humanitarian Law and warned that they could escalate genocide in the region while obstructing humanitarian aid access.
The statement comes amid rising tensions, with reports of 48 deaths and 142 injuries in Gaza due to Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours. This follows a brief truce between March 17 and 18, after which the Israeli military resumed its offensive against the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the renewed attacks, claiming Hamas rejected a U.S.-backed proposal to extend the ceasefire and release hostages.
Rodríguez, currently in Russia with President Miguel Díaz-Canel to commemorate the Soviet victory over fascism, emphasized the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis and reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to defending Palestinian rights.
