The Argentine people, with the spirit of Evita, will always prevail!, the Bolivarian leader stressed.
On Wednesday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro sent a warm message of solidarity to the Argentine people and former President Cristina Fernandez (2007-2015), who is currently under house arrest in her Buenos Aires apartment.

“To the Argentine people, the people of Peron, Nestor, and Maradona, we send our solidarity. We stand with you in all times and in all struggles. To Cristina, from the depths of the revolutionary grassroots, from the people of Bolivar and Chavez, we send our greetings,” he stated.
“We know that, sooner rather than later, the people will rise again, and her name will be etched in Argentina’s proud history. The Argentine people, with the spirit of Evita, will always prevail!” Maduro emphasized.
Previously, Argentine social, political, student and labor organizations held massive demonstrations in major cities across the country in support of Fernandez, the Peronist leader who was sentenced to six years in prison in a judicial process widely seen as politically motivated.
The text reads, “‘They can lock me up, but they can’t lock up the entire Argentine people,’ Cristina Fernandez-Kirchner.”
Called by the Justicialist Party, Wednesday’s rallies were supported by various factions of Peronism and by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) and the Argentine Workers’ Central Union (CTA). Among other political figures present were Maximo Kirchner, Cristina Fernandez’s son; governors Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires), Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja), Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa), and Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego); and mayors Fernando Moreira (San Martin), Jorge Ferraresi (Avellaneda), and Mario Secco (Ensenada).
For hours, the street outside Fernandez’s apartment in Buenos Aires remained packed with thousands of supporters, many hoping to catch a glimpse of the leftist politician from her balcony. On Thursday, former Bolivian President Evo Morales also issued a message of solidarity with Cristina Fernandez.
“The people’s affection cannot be proscribed. No sentence can erase from the collective memory a decade of dignity, prosperity, and social justice that Argentina experienced. Our complete solidarity with sister Cristina Fernandez-Kirchner and our respect for the Argentine people mobilized for truth and democracy,” he posted on social media.
