President Nicolás Maduro launched the 79th episode of his program @conmaduroms this Thursday with an in-depth analysis of his recent visit to Russia, timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War.
From the studio, the Venezuelan leader praised the Russian people for their “heroic resistance against Nazi-fascism” while leveling sharp criticism at the West: “Eight decades after that historic feat, they still try —and fail— to hide the sun of truth with lies.”
President Maduro linked the anniversary to today’s global landscape, warning of a “concerning resurgence of extremist ideologies” seeking to rewrite history.
During his address, President Maduro announced the signing of a comprehensive strategic cooperation treaty with Russia, spanning satellite technology to educational exchanges. “These are not mere trade deals,” he clarified, “but a bridge between civilizations sharing principles of sovereignty and multipolarity.”
The president highlighted joint high-tech projects, including space communication systems, and plans to triple direct flights between Caracas and Moscow. “Daily air connections will soon boost tourism and business,” he declared.
In a defiant tone, Maduro displayed protocol gifts exchanged with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, including replicas of historical documents and war-themed art collections. “These symbols,” he explained, “reflect the mutual admiration between our peoples and our resolve to defend independence.” He also unveiled strengthened bilateral trade mechanisms to “shield both economies from illegal sanctions,” though specific figures were omitted.
