In a clear rebuke to U.S. unilateralism, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian denounced Washington’s recent export controls on Huawei’s Ascend AI chips as an abusive and protectionist tactic aimed at undermining China’s technological development and sovereignty.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security issued guidance warning companies against using Huawei’s AI chips, alleging violations of export controls. China responded by accusing the U.S. of weaponizing national security claims to unjustly repress Chinese technological advancement and disrupt global supply chains.

This move by the U.S. is part of a broader imperialist strategy to maintain technological hegemony by strangling emerging competitors. The U.S. has long used export controls and trade restrictions to contain China’s rise, especially in strategic sectors like semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Beijing’s spokesperson emphasized that these actions violate market principles, destabilize international production networks, and infringe upon the legitimate rights of Chinese enterprises. China categorically rejects these measures and vows to take resolute action to safeguard its development rights and the interests of its companies.

Despite U.S. attempts to isolate Chinese tech firms, China continues to advance its self-reliance in critical technologies. Huawei’s development of the Ascend chip series exemplifies China’s determination to break free from dependency on U.S. technology. The Chinese government’s firm stance highlights the necessity of resisting imperialist economic warfare and protecting national sovereignty in the digital age.

This confrontation is emblematic of the larger geopolitical struggle between imperialist powers and rising socialist-oriented nations asserting their right to autonomous development.
