A document submitted to the National Assembly has revealed an alarming budget shortfall, putting essential health programs at risk. Among the most affected sectors are HIV/AIDS services, family planning initiatives, and immunization programs, according to senior health officials.

With U.S. funding cuts already crippling HIV/AIDS programs, analysts warn that further reductions in government spending will jeopardize critical care for thousands living with the disease.

The flagship national insurance scheme, enacted in 2023, will also suffer significant financial strain, further limiting healthcare accessibility for vulnerable populations.

Policymakers and health advocates have urged the government to prioritize life-saving services and seek alternative funding solutions to prevent a public health crisis.
