Pezeshkian reiterated that the attack on Al-Udeid Air Base was solely a response to U.S. complicity in the recent military aggression by the Zionist entity.
On Monday night, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a missile attack on Al-Udeid Base in response to the U.S. bombing of Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan and Fordo—an act of war that, according to Tehran, constitutes a grave violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Also on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that Iran’s strike on the Al-Udeid military base, located outside Doha, was not aimed at the Qatari state.
“This defensive action should in no way be interpreted as being directed against the friendly country,” Baghaei said, adding that his country has always upheld “the principle of good neighborliness” with Qatar and other countries.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that Iran will not allow “the aggressive actions and malicious policies of the United States and the Zionist regime” to cause division in the region.
On Monday, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council expressed its acceptance of the cease-fire with Israel, which was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump early Tuesday morning.
